Invitation
"It is a great honour that the International Mineral Processing Congress is
returning to Australia in 2010 to celebrate its Silver Jubilee in style. The
beautiful city of Brisbane, capital of Queensland, will be hosting this landmark
event, where the focus will be on enhancing the pre-eminence of the IMPC as
the "Olympic Games" of mineral processing.
The IMPC has always attracted the very best researchers and practitioners to
come together to discuss the latest developments. Our aim is to attract the
“best of the best” to IMPC 2010 as plenary and keynote speakers, so you will
have the opportunity to hear the latest ideas from researchers and industry on
the major issues facing us now and in the future. While leading edge
developments have always been of interest they are now critical. Recent worldwide
economic changes and energy, water and environmental limitations have put
immense pressure on reducing mineral processing costs. It is therefore very
appropriate that the theme of IMPC 2010 is “Smarter Processing for the Future”.
Without ongoing innovation to address these issues, the resource industries
are bound to falter.
Australia is a major player in mineral commodities. We are well endowed with
major production centres and world renowned research and equipment
suppliers. Thus, while in Australia for IMPC 2010 you will have the opportunity
to visit some of the leading mineral industry research organisations, such as
the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC), the University of
Queensland Sustainable Minerals Institute, the Commonwealth Scientific and
Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and company research laboratories in
Brisbane and the Ian Wark Research Institute in Adelaide, South Australia. There
will also be technical tours to mining operations in Queensland, New South
Wales, South Australia and Western Australia, as well as sightseeing tours to the
famous Gold Coast and the world heritage Great Barrier Reef in Queensland.
We invite you to join us in Brisbane in September 2010 to celebrate the XXV
IMPC and really hope to see you there. It will be a memorable Congress that
should not be missed.
